Death Review Reports
The Florida Department of Health
provides oversight and assistance to the State and Local Child Abuse
Death Review Teams. These
guidelines were developed by the Protocol and Guidelines Committee of
the State Child Abuse Death Review Committee with assistance from the Department of
Health support staff.
2003
Florida Child Abuse Death Review Report
This report summarizes information from the case reviews of
the 29 children who died in 2002 that had at least one prior report of
abuse or neglect filed with the Department of Children and Family Services. Additionally,
it highlights major issues and trends for the 124 deaths reviewed over
the four-year period. (December 2003)

This report highlights major issues and trends
identified from the case review of 29 children, all of whom had at least
one prior report of abuse or neglect filed with the Department of
Children and Families and died in Florida at the hands of their
