TitleGoing to College (A website for College-bound Students with Disabilities)

Description: This website was designed to help high school students learn about living college life with a disability, though all high school students interested in college will find it useful. The site provides video clips, activities, and resources that can help students get a head start in planning for college. Video interviews with college students with disabilities offer a way to hear firsthand from students with disabilities who have been successful. Modules include activities that will help students explore more about themselves, learn what to expect from college, and equip them with important considerations and tasks to complete when planning for college.

Title: College is Possible for You!

Description: This pamphlet encourages youth to plan for and envision themselves in college. It provides practical information on financial aid and steps to take to get ready for college. It was produced by the Florida Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.

Description: Sometimes young people want to change their names, first or last or both names. Under many circumstances, that is legally OK. Sometimes a name was changed due to an adoption, but not all of the steps were taken to notify important governmental sources. These materials contain many of the items used to obtain a name change and to update government documents. Many things you might be able to do for yourself with this information. However, you would be well advised to contact your local legal aid program and request a lawyer help you with any name change or for answers to related legal questions you might have.

Description: This publication by the ABA Bar Youth Empowerment Project with Florida's Children First is intended to help youth understand the dependency court system. It answers youth's most common questions about being placed into state care, describes all of the pertinent players, defines key terms and discusses the types of hearings that take place in dependency court.

Title: Know Your Record: What Teens Should Know About Their Delinquency Record

Description: The booklet defines the terms that are used in the criminal justice system. It explains expunging and sealing records and how to answer questions about your record on school and job applications. It was prepared by the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County

Title: Pregnant and Parenting Youth in the Independent Living Program 

Description: This document answers some of the questions most commonly asked by former foster youth who are pregnant or parenting. It was prepared by the University of Miami Children and Youth Law Clinic.

Title: FOR MINORS – CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ARREST, PLEA AND TRIAL

Description: This document describes all of the things that may or will happen to youth as a result of being arrested, pleading guilty or no contest to a juvenile or adult charge and going to trial.
