Wanda
Collins McDowell
Math teacher at Crystal Lake Middle School,
who
called SOS Children’s Village her home from age 8 to 18.
She has devoted
herself to helping young people understand the
importance of an education,
as she believes that “education
is the key to life”.
  
Latoya
Richardson
Entered foster care at age 16 along
with her younger
sister. Wanda has worked to overcome the many
obstacles and about to
receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
and intends to devote her
career to assisting young people in state care.
She also plans to pursue a
Master’s Degree.
  
Terran
Q. Vandiver
Terran faced challenges that would have
sidetracked
others. He experienced many years in state care,
became the patriarch of
his family at a young age and completed high
school while living with another transitioning youth. Terran is
working on his Communications Degree at Florida Atlantic University
and tutors at-risk youth with the
group Helping Abused,
Neglected and Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY).   
Tammy
Workman
Tammy is currently working as an Admissions
Counselor at
Kaplan University and has made a career out
of helping others. In foster
care from age 15 through 21, she
has completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s
Degrees and will be
pursuing her second Master’s in the near future.
Tammy’s dream is to change the world, take unnecessary pain and fear
from every
heart, especially every child’s heart.
